Course Description
Intended Outcomes for the course
1. Complete exam competencies and repetitions as required by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
2. Perform advanced MR examinations with minimal supervision
Course Activities and Design
Perform all skills with independence and use critical thinking skills to handle increasingly complex situations within the MR department. The student is required to continue to perform competencies required to qualify for the ARRT Magnetic Resonance Imaging Examination.

COURSE CONTENT:
The student will demonstrate understanding of the following themes, issues, concepts, and develop the following skills:
THEMES, CONCEPTS, ISSUES
Ø Cross sectional anatomy correlation to pathology
Ø Understanding advanced image parameters
Ø Magnetic field strength correlation to protocol selections
Ø Understanding safety issues performing anesthesia for MR patients
Ø MR Hardware correlation to magnetic field strength
Ø MR safety correlation to field strength
Ø Parameter differences between vendors and magnet type
Ø Understanding of factors affecting image quality and contrast
COMPETENCIES OR PROCESS SKILLS
A. Demonstrate understanding of cross-sectional anatomy.
B. Demonstrate knowledge of equipment required for anesthesia cases.
C. Demonstrates understanding of safety issues involving anesthesia
for conscious sedation MR imaging.
D. Demonstrates understanding of protocol parameter choices for varied anatomy.
E. Demonstrate knowledge of advanced image formation principles.
F. Demonstrate knowledge of MR hardware differences for varied field strengths and vendors.
G. Demonstrate knowledge of factors affecting image quality and contrast
