Course Description
Emphasizes continued improvements in both cardiorespiratory and muscular fitness via interval training at an intermediate level. Involves a series of low- to high-intensity workouts interspersed with rest/recovery periods. Includes the use of weights and a wide variety of functional fitness training equipment. Audit available.
Addendum to Course Description
Students will learn & experience both a warm up and cool down in each training session.
Fitness assessments may be offered as a part of this class.
Monitoring intensity levels is key in interval training and students will learn and utilize heart rate, rate of perceived exertion and/or the talk test.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of this course students should be able to:
- Improve levels of physical fitness through continued participation in interval training.
- Perform safe and effective warm ups up and cool downs specific to interval training when exercising.
- Apply proper techniques at an intermediate level for safe and effective participation in interval training.

- Timing of intervals & relation to intensity level of activity/exercise

- Both Aerobic & Anaerobic Fitness Training
- Develop interval or circuit fitness training sessions for personal use
