Course Description

Covers skills required to demonstrate and teach resistance training exercises. Introduces training principles, a variety of resistance methods, and muscular fitness program design. Prerequisites: PE 181A, PE 181B, or PE 181C; and FT 131 or instructor approval. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Describe various resistance training methods, principles, and equipment.
  2. Demonstrate safe and effective resistance training techniques for every major muscle group when training clients.
  3. Apply effective teaching strategies in resistance training instruction.
  4. Design resistance training programs based on client goals and industry standards.
