Course Description
Explores fitness instruction and coaching in team sports. Covers skill-related components of fitness, seasonal practice planning, sport-specific drills, and coaching philosophies, methodologies, and styles. Prerequisites: WR 115, RD 115 and MTH 20 or equivalent placement test scores. Audit available.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students will be able to:
- Design and implement a team sport practice session to improve fitness, skill, and performance in athletes.
- Apply effective coaching strategies in a team sports setting.
- Apply motivational strategies to enhance individual and team performance.
- Explore current coaching trends and employment opportunities related to team sports.
