The course teaches the theory and techniques of stage make-up and includes work in specific phases of the make-up process. Stage make-up is an art. Much time is needed to develop the techniques and touch, important elements to good make-up design. Time will be spent in class on lecture and demonstration as well as for practicing techniques..

Knowledge of the relationship between stage make-up, the character and the stage are essential in creating the best make-up. Some of the class time will be spent on lecture and discussion of these points. Also, it would be advantageous to sit in on rehearsals of theatre productions in various theatre to analyze these relationships first hand.

Competency will be determined by the in-class execution of skills on a class by-class basis, as well as a final project. Grades will be determined by attendance, daily class projects, outside research, and applied midterm and a final make-up project.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will have satisfactorily accomplished the goals and objectives listed in this course content guide. Course content guides are developed by college wide faculty and approved by management.
