Days 2-4: Culturally-Responsive Teaching Workshops
- Who: All educators are welcome. Stipends are available for part-time faculty for one session.
- Where: Options will be available at via Zoom.
- When: September 8 – 11, 2020. Workshops will be held at a variety of times throughout the day to provide access.
- What: This year we are proud to broaden and deepen the focus on culturally-responsive instruction in the main Teaching Week sessions and extend that knowledge in more narrowly-focused auxiliary sessions.
The main sessions will be similar to last year. There will be two hours of collaborative work to develop and deepen an understanding of culturally-responsive instruction and an optional third hour to apply that new understanding in preparation for your fall classes. Participants that are not able or not interested in attending the final application hour can earn credit by submitting a short reflection on how they apply the principles to their courses. If you attended Teaching Week events in 2019, this can be an opportunity to deepen your understanding of culturally-responsive teaching and build on the work from last year. If you did not attend, this is your opportunity to enter into the shared understanding of culturally-responsive instruction at PCC.
You will see that each session below is labeled with an affinity group. Even though good teaching is good teaching, it can manifest differently in different disciplines or different modalities. Our belief is that these affinity groupings will make these sessions most useful. All faculty are welcome to attend whichever session works best for them.
Part-time faculty that attend will be paid at the stipend rate.* Please register directly through the links here or in Cornerstone.
If you have any questions, you can direct them to your campus TLC coordinator.
