PCC Sylvania’s CDC Philosophy Statement
The CDC builds a sense of community by creating a welcoming and safe space where adults and children can build relationships and learn from each other. We respect families and the home environment as the first teachers of young children. We endeavor to create a community where the contributions of families, teachers, students, and children are respected and valued, so that we may all learn from one another. Family members are welcome to become active participants in our learning community.
Anti-bias curriculum and social justice are at the center of what we do as we introduce children to the community through early education. We continually strive to examine our own biases in order to inform our practice in our ever-changing environment. This grants the children the opportunity to be exposed to other perspectives, allowing for deeper reflection and acceptance of differences. We advocate on a larger scale, educating and illuminating society on the importance of Early Childhood Education. We seek to lift up the profession in the eyes of society and help others build their practices in order to reach higher levels of care for the children and families they serve.
