1 These courses are part of the Culinary Assistant program at TBCC. The committee felt that the descriptions need to communicate the focus of each class more clearly. The notion of reviewing revisions over email was discussed, but because of the large number of complex changes that did not seem practical. In addition, there were no faculty members from the SAC in attendance.
While the outcomes also did not meet our adopted criteria, the courses were not sent back on that basis. We did, however, suggest that the outcomes also be revised before the courses are presented again.

2 These three courses were presented with identical descriptions and outcomes, which is inconsistent with our criteria and principles. The situation is complicated by the fact that the program is participating in a state-wide consortium that is dictating common course numbering, including three Practicum courses (making the adoption of just one practicum, taken up to three times, an unacceptable solution). At PCC we have adopted the principle that two courses, even if similar in nature, should indicate some difference, both in the course descriptions and in the outcomes. Potential ways of distinguishing these course were discussed, and the ED faculty agreed to revise the requests and return next month.
31. ED 224 – Foundations of Education

32. ED 263 – Portfolio Development
New Course
Recommend with revised outcomes to read:
Student will:
* Meet Paraeducator or Library/Media Program competencies through a professional portfolio.
* Select, describe, arrange, and display appropriate artifacts to enable a reader of the portfolio to interpret them as intended without assistance.
* Prepare an oral presentation of portfolio highlights.
* Provide feedback to others for improvement of their portfolios and adjust their own portfolios in response to feedback.
(Note: The outcomes as presented used the language of course objectives and/or activities. They were easily modified to speak more clearly to the intended learning outcomes.)
