The meeting began with general business at 3:08 pm.

  • Review of By-law Changes – Types of questions asked discussion under General Procedures in the Appendix to the By-laws.
    • SACs need to make sure all impacted groups are notified if changes are being made to prerequisites. This especially includes programs that use their course as a prerequisite or program requirement. The form was changed for this purpose last year and it has been better since that time.
    • The types of questions asked and links to relevant web sites would be helpful if sent with the confirmation of on-line submissions. Brett will work on this.
    • New lower division courses must be taught at a minimum of 3 other colleges in Oregon, SACs need to evaluate the course to make sure it doesn’t cross over to upper division (meaning courses that are offered as upper division within the OUS system).

Proposed Course Description: Focuses on methods used to optimize and deliver still graphics, animations, audio, and video streaming and website design. Students will use still image optimization programs such as Adobe Image Ready and streaming media compression tools such as Apple QuickTime and QuickTime Streaming Server. Using HTML editors such as Macromedia Dreamweaver, students will address special user interface design challenges encountered in bandwidth intensive web sites using Cascading Style Sheets, Javascript, and XHTML. Streaming media will be delivered via the World Wide Web and Apple Quicktime Streaming Server. Students will also evaluate media streaming performance, codec efficiency, image quality and cross platform functionality, interactivity, accessibility, and web design standards. Recommended prerequisites: CAS 112D, 113, & 206. Prerequisites: MM 230, & CAS 111D, or instructor permission.
