New Business
2:15 New COC Entry-Level Accounting Clerk -14 credits
Susanne recommended that the courses taken for the new certificate align more closely with the two-term certificate in Accelerating Accounting. Veronica recommended dropping “Two Term” as part of the certificate title, calling it Accelerating Accounting.
Dave Stout made a motion and Linda Gettmann seconded the motion to recommend the certificate the certificate in Entry-Level Accounting for approval. Motion carried.
2:30 Revision AAS Biomedical Engineering Technology
The revisions to the Biomedical degree are to more closely align course work with CBET requirements. The changes include removing BI 121 and EET 280B, a seminar, which can be integrated into other course work. EET 260, 261 Biomedical Equipment I and II will be added as a greater emphasis in the technical aspects of the degree is needed . Susanne questioned the number of Gen Ed credits within the degree and recommends changing the Social Science requirement to four credits to total 108 credits to satisfy the Gen Ed requirement.
Dave Stout made a motion and Becky White seconds the motion to recommend approval of the degree revision with the inclusion of a change from three to four credits in the Social Science Gen Ed requirement for Biomedical Engineering Technology. Motion carried..
2:45 Revised AAS Paralegal
Changes were made as a result of a survey conducted by the Paralegal department and the need to more closely align the program with ABA requirements. Linda recommended making the list of courses from clearly identifiable so that students understand which courses count as Gen Ed and exactly what the program requirements are to reach a total of 90 credits, i.e., the electives options are very broad. It was recommended that Math 65 be removed as a program requirement and that English 122 and CAS 133 be included in the actual degree requirements, reducing the total number of elective credits from 29 to 22.
Becky White made a motion and Ericks Puris to add English 122 and CAS 133 as requirements for the degree decreasing the program electives by seven credits to maintain a 90 credit degree. Motion carried..
3:00 Revised One Year Certificate in Machine Manufacturing Technology: CNC Turning
The current one-year certificate will be replaced with two new one-year certificates. Proposed certificate forms should be labeled as new certificates rather than a revised certificate. Suzanne raised the question regarding courses having to show related instruction to the Curriculum Committee as well. She will check with Kendra.
Eriks made a motion and Loretta Goldy seconded to recommend the one-year certificate in Machine Manufacturing Technology: CNC Turning for approval.
