About Us
Mission
The Let’s Talk! Podcast Collective is an open forum for centering and elevating the lived experiences of people with disabilities. We build community bridges within and outside of PCC operations to advance community-centered journalism through broadcast, civic engagement, and open-source digital media content creation.
Our foundational guiding principle is to provide a space which promotes social inclusion and cultural visibility, provides a platform for lived experiences, and creates a community that celebrates diversity.
Community Guidelines
This is a space where participants are welcome to bring all of their identities into the conversation. We enter this environment with accountability for ourselves and our community in order to discuss how our intersecting identities, privileges, and experiences affect how we perceive and navigate the world.
We endeavor to apply an anti-racist, anti-ableist, queer-accepting, and decolonial thought process to our conversation and growth as a community.
Additionally, we oppose ideas or actions that support racism, classism, ableism, ageism, sexism, homophobia, misogyny, and transphobia, and will consistently and adamantly seek to interrupt these behaviors as we encounter them for the safety and health of our community members.
Core Values
- Disability is a natural part of human variation and vital to the development of communities.
- Disability is a social/political category that encompasses individuals and communities from diverse backgrounds whose perspectives are invaluable towards social dialogue and the pursuit of democracy through journalism.
- We recognize that current media industry standards are inaccessible to the vast majority of people who experience various disabilities. Our goal is to remedy that through inclusive and accessible digital design strategies, and promote inclusion as a matter of social justice and civil rights.
- We endeavor to expand our outreach through cross collaboration with other communities.
- We are constantly open to innovation, experimentation, and discovery of new media strategies and / or methods that support our mission and values.
- We stand on the shoulders of giants, and extend gratitude for historical advancements and the opportunity to platform our cause while recognizing moving into the future we dream of requires us to embrace change as an inter-connected community.
