Handbook and policies

Student handbook

New students should review the dual credit student handbook. The handbook is a detailed guide that will help introduce you to taking college-level courses. It covers essential policies, resources, and expectations for dual credit students. The handbook features sections on academic integrity, course registration, grading policies, and available support services, including counseling and career advising.

Student responsibilities

  • Be prepared for college-level classes and make sure you meet the prerequisites. High school classes can often count as college-level prerequisites. If you’re not sure, ask your teacher.
  • Keep your account information (MyPCC username, password, and G number) in a safe place.
  • College deadlines are more stringent than high school deadlines. Know the registration, drop, and withdraw deadlines for the classes you are taking.
  • Verify your registration by viewing your class schedule in the MyPCC My Courses tab.
  • Drop or withdraw from courses if you drop or transfer out of the class or school.
  • Update your mailing address with PCC if you move.

Registration policies

When you start the online registration process, check all your information in MyPCC. Verify that the information you are about to enter is the same as what was provided by your high school instructor. You are the one responsible for the accuracy of registering for your classes and tuition and fees if you register for the wrong course.

Grading policies

All courses at PCC have a default grade option, which has been determined by the Subject Area Committee. In most cases, this is a Letter Grade Option (standard A-F system).

Attendance

You are expected to attend all the classes you’re enrolled in. If you don’t attend (or stop attending) a class and fail to drop the course on time (see the dual credit academic calendar), you will be responsible for the grade reported on your PCC transcript. If you have excessive absences and fail to drop or withdraw from a class by the deadline, a grade of F may be assigned by your instructor.
