Faculty Development Opportunities
Faculty interested in proposing future study abroad courses may benefit from faculty development opportunities offered by providers or the US government. These opportunities are often subsidized and may contain an application. Below is a list of opportunities. For further information feel free to also email anne.frey@pcc.edu.
- Council of American Overseas Research Centers Faculty Development Seminar for Community Colleges and Minority-Serving Institutions. (fully funded). Download the flyer here. Upcoming seminars include West Africa and the Diaspora—Continuities and Transformations, Mexico’s Indigenous Languages and Cultures, and Exploring Urban Sustainability through India’s Cities.
- SIT Study Abroad Professional Engagement programs: Every year they offer a skills-based field seminar on “Grounding Faculty-led Programs in Experiential Education Pedagogy & Decolonial Perspectives” located in one of their study abroad sites.
- IDEAS Grant Competition: This is a federally funded grant and should be done in conjunction with the PCC Ed Abroad Office.
