Program Description
In this peace and conflict course, students are exposed to the consequences of violence and conflict in an area of the world which experienced devastation during WWII. Taking a closer look at why political movements can turn violent, and examining alternatives to violence, students will experience firsthand modern Japan. The country is now a world center for peace studies and proves a wonderful demonstration of the possibility of social change.
Program Highlights
- Visit Museums to explore Japan’s place in Asian history
- Overnight excursion to Hiroshima to visit the Peace Park and Peace Memorial Museum
- Time to explore Kyoto independently
