Location

Steps to get started

  1. Fill out the admissions form.
  2. Go to the Testing Center on the first floor of Building 9 at Rock Creek at the time a testing session is scheduled to begin.
    • Bring a picture ID card, such as a driver’s license or a passport.

After you have taken the test, you will be given a date and time to come back to the ESOL department for an advising session.

Please Note: Please come in and take the test as early as possible! Classes fill quickly!

Current class schedule

Most terms, two sections of each course are offered. See the main ESOL website for details about the program. Rock Creek’s smaller summer program offers two sections of Level 1-3 classes and only one section each of Level 4-8 classes.

Level 1, 2, 3 (non-credit only), levels 4 and 5 (credit or non-credit) have morning and evening classes. Levels 6, 7 and 8 (credit only) have morning and afternoon classes.

Textbooks required for these classes are listed on the PCC Bookstore website.

Language Lab

Rock Creek language labThe Language Learning Lab, located in Building 2, Room 203, is for currently enrolled ESOL, Japanese, and Spanish students. It is a great place for ESOL students to learn how to type and use computers, practice English pronunciation and grammar, do homework, check email, and work on projects. In addition to software programs, the computers have internet access with a list of favorite websites available on every computer in the lab and a handout of useful ESOL websites.

Open lab hours

The lab is open Monday-Thursday: 8:30am-12pm and 2-5:30pm.

Schedules are posted outside the lab. In addition, if a class is being held in the lab, most teachers will allow students to come in if space is available. If you drop in while a class is in session, please sit in the back and work quietly.

Software

In addition to general software such Ultra Key 4.0 (typing program), Microsoft Office 2007, the lab computers have the following ESOL software:
