"In 2017 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. In 14 months of treatment I endured six rounds of chemotherapy, a left breast mastectomy, and six weeks of daily radiation. My doctors assumed I would have reconstructive plastic surgery, and when I decided against it, I faced disbelief and questioning.
These photos document three stages of my treatment. First, the overwhelming amount of appointments and heartbreak of losing my hair. Second, the pressure to conform to a specific body type, and frustration at not being believed when I decided not to reconstruct. Finally, accepting my scars and knowing I made the right choice for myself."
