In Drawing 101 this was our first project, and my first project in college proper. The goal was to set up a still life, and to convey the three dimensional qualities of the objects in the scene purely by use of line. I drew this still life every day for two weeks before I felt comfortable enough to broach using ink. I think I perhaps took 4 hours on the piece, and after our in class critique I return to it to implement much of the notes that I received. I wanted to make something difficult and over the top, so i made the classic fainting gesture with a knife to cut through the piece and guide the eye across the composition.
