Jessica Allison-Bourne | “Ophelias Flowers”
This media file is attached to: Painting / Watercolor
This painting is one in a series of works where I focused on reimagining mythical characters or archetypes in my own original style. In this piece, Ophelia has drowned, and is surrounded by an art nouveau style frame that holds each of the flowers she gave to the other characters in Hamlet, all which symbolize different characteristics and emotions. I focused on creating depth through value while still including an illustrative outline, and I experimented with creating washes with acrylic paints to create a lithographic look.
