The inspiration of this painting is my typical breakfast table. Milk, egg, a banana, nuts, an apple, and my favorite silver napkin served as early still life inspiration on 16x20 canvas coated with raw umber. Working on this painting was exciting as I applied the classical technique learned in my painting classes (181 A, B and C) to real objects. After sketching, I painted each object on an 8x10 canvas using acrylic colors as an exercise to give me confidence before assembling them on this large canvas. The more I painted, the hungrier I felt, and the more eager I was to fill the table with yummy and heathy foods-thus adding the figs, bread, peanuts, and grapes. I started to dream of this cornucopia, with its rosy romance, set in a classic stone house, facing a tranquil waterfront, where your mind may drift along the waves, erasing all qualms from a pandemic.
