Rachel Quesenberry | “Perseverance on Broken Land”
This media file is attached to: Painting / Watercolor
This painting reflects what I learned in the Indigenous Art of U.S and Canada class. The woman is a jingle dress dancer from the Swampy Cree tribe. The mirror symbolizes connection to land (photo taken outside to see nature in mirror), and the brokenness illustrates the desecration of Indigenous land, as well as the broken relationship some Native people experience with the land. However, they are still here, and it's still their land.
