Susan Safford | “Ink Wash After Helen Frankenthaler”
This media file is attached to: Painting / Watercolor
Our assignment was to use three values of ink wash to paint a master’s work. To me, ink wash was sort of like eating your vegetables. You need to do it in order to be able to do other things. But just as I’ve come to love kale, broccoli and carrots, I’ve come to appreciate ink washes for their bold simplicity. And doing them has taught me a ton about really seeing and observing the world – intensely satisfying in and of itself and essential for continuing to develop my skills as a watercolorist.
