I've never taken a real painting class and wanted to before graduating summer term. The last project for beginning painting was to find an artist and replicate one of their paintings. I wanted to choose a Woman of Color painter who I didn't know and found Tarsila do Amaral. While painting this piece, I started reading more about her life and looking at other paintings and was so amazed. She wanted to make her home and country proud by representing it in her art and, I feel as though she did just that. Once the painting was finished, I felt as though I did myself and my own parents proud of what I accomplished
