Rebecca Kelley | “Solo Travel”
This media file is attached to: Printmaking
This print was made to illustrate the article "Traveling the World—While Looking Over Her Shoulder," about the threats women face during solo adventures. Here, Little Red Riding Hood is re-imagined as a grown woman, venturing out into the woods, with the wolf in pursuit. She looks over her shoulder not in fear, but in annoyance, because a woman should not have to fear for her life when she is out on her own. This is a multi-layer print made with both stencil and carved blocks.
