Pam Russell | “Dream”

"To create this image I started with a trace monotype using orange, yellow, and red to form the tree with roots. Then I used reductive linocut relief printing to add 3 layers of transparent blue ink, creating the foreground figure and background sky. Dreams can be filled with personal symbols. In this dream a tree representing the tree of life burst into flames but was not consumed, nor was the sheltering dreamer harmed. The glowing tree cradles the sleeping figure, protecting and warming her. The dream starts with anxiety and fear, but ends with comfort, and the promise of joy."
