I learned this scribbling technique from drawing teacher Joe Macca, using a scribbling method, along with different sized pens, to be able to achieve different shading effects. I actually did not like the scribbling at first, it reminded me of pubic hairs. But I noticed the scribbling kept other people focused on the art work, moving along, following the scribbles sometimes, looking at how they are able to achieve an image, even if it's just a couple of pen scratches, making the appearance of squinting eye balls, or eye lashes. I jokingly call this my "pube" art, but I, too, fall victim to staring and following the lines, and enjoy making these types of images, though I don't want to be know as just an artist who makes these types of "scribble portraits." Though, if I did, it would be okay.
