Ash Kukuzke | “The Crane Wife”
This media file is attached to: 1st Annual One College Virtual Art Student Exhibition
This Crane Wife (Tsuru no Ongaeshi) is a Japanese folktale of self-sacrifice, in which a woman (as a crane) plucks her feathers to weave wares for her husband to sell. This piece explores a woman's autonomy and the rejection of these prescriptive roles.
