Career overview

The Scope of Practice is broad and varies based on the aspect and viewpoint of research in which one is working (i.e. study sponsor, researcher, manager, support team, etc.). According to the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA), here is the Scope and Standards of Practice.

Certification and licensure

Students who successfully complete the program will receive a non-credit certificate and have the knowledge and skills for entry-level positions as a clinical research coordinator,  clinical research associate, research assistant, research specialist, or related positions.

Occupational risks

Practicing clinical researchers typically work in office spaces, medical facilities or research centers. Occupational risks associated with this work may exist depending on the location of your employment or work.

Professional associations

There are two primary professional organizations most closely associated with this program and profession. They are the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) and the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA).

Both provide membership, certification opportunities, conferences, professional development opportunities, and more.
