The Healthcare & Emergency Professions (HEP) pathway provides opportunities for students to gain certificates, degrees, licensure, and/or credentials to further their careers in healthcare and emergency services fields. Welcome to Clinical Research
On behalf of our faculty and department, I would like to welcome you to our Clinical Research program. Whether you are looking to start a new career, expand your knowledge to support your clients/patients, or simply learn about the field, we are delighted to support your education and goals.
Clinical Research is often both a fulfilling focus of a career, one that can prove varied and provide for advancement. Working with others and being part of a team often proves rewarding, knowing that you are contributing to research and opportunities to help people improve their health and/or quality of life.
Portland Community College developed its Clinical Research program at the request of industry partners, and has been proud to help students achieve their dreams and shape their careers in this field for nearly 10 years. We are excited to support you during your studies, and later as you begin your work and contribute to others.

About Clinical Research
The Clinical Research (CR) program is a non-credit certificate program housed within the Healthcare and Emergency Professions pathway of Portland Community College.
The pathway offers a host of other credit and non-credit health programs that students may wish to explore.
Mission and values
The mission of the Clinical Research (CR) program is to provide high quality, student-centered training to prepare graduates to work as clinical research coordinators, research assistants, and research specialists in the fields of oncology, lab pharmaceutical, treatments, prevention, screening, diagnostics, genetics, epidemiological, devices, and biologics.
The program offers students of all ages, races, cultures, economic levels, and previous educational experience opportunities for personal growth and attainment of their professional goals. Through effective teaching and student support, we strive to prepare our students for success as individuals, businesses, and healthcare professionals.
Values
The PCC Clinical Research program values student engagement, mutual respect with everyone involved with the program, and strives to provide foundations for student success through a worthwhile curriculum that is practical, theoretical, and of high quality.
The program provides the environment to create outstanding health care professionals. Everyone in the program is enthusiastic about teaching and learning, and all students and staff are respected.
Goals and objectives
The goal of the Portland Community College Clinical Research program is to deliver a high quality entry-level, professional preparatory program, enabling participants to start their healthcare research career.
Accreditation
Portland Community College is regionally accredited through the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). For more information, see the college’s Accreditation webpage.
Costs
Program tuition, fees, and costs are as follows:
- $1,249 for the entire program. There are no additional fees or book requirements.
- Special, interest-free payment plans are available through PCC by contacting Lynne Baxter. Emails to Lynne must be sent using PCC email accounts.
