Students and Service Area – Race/Ethnicity
Approximately 90% of PCC’s 2022-23 enrolled student population, selected a race and/or ethnicity (i.e., Hispanic, or not Hispanic) on their PCC admissions application. A student’s residency status determined their membership in the international category. Below are the students’ selections described by mutually exclusive categories and percentages of the total.

A YESS goal of the College is to enroll students from the diverse communities it serves. This goal is evaluated by comparing the composition of enrolled students to the race and ethnic identities reported by people living in PCC’s service area through the Federal Census. The table below indicates that PCC is meeting this goal.

*Revised – All of PCC race and ethnic categories do not directly correspond to Census categories. For the purpose of comparison, counts of “not reported” and “International” students are removed from PCC’s enrolled student total, and the percentage of the total is recalculated.
This analysis is based on the 2020 Census data for Washington and Multnomah Counties, which are a combined population estimated to be 1.4 million individuals. These two counties served as a proxy for the PCC service area that also includes portions of Yamhill, Clackamas and Columbia counties.
