FP- Fire Protection Technology Instructor Qualifications ARCHIVE

FP Instructor Qualifications prior to December 2018

  • AAS Degree in Fire Protection Technology and
  • NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter II certification or equivalent and
  • NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor I or equivalent and
  • 3 years recent experience as a career fire fighter with emergency response experience or 6 years recent experience as a volunteer fire fighter with emergency response experience

Instructors must be current in their field, either through employment, volunteer work or professional organizations.

FP Instructor Qualifications prior to May 2011

Part time – Instructor Requirements

Required: AAS Degree in Fire Protection Technology

  • EMT Basic
  • Emergency Service Instructor III level or equiv.
  • 5 years fire service experience

Preferred: BS Fire Administration

  • 2 years as a company officer
  • 1 year instructing at a Community College in Fire or EMS

Revised Date: 08/2006

7/09/1996 – Reference in form from State Department of Education that the institution will adhere to the policies of the State Department of Education in respect to the requirements of occupational education and training.
