Medical Assisting Faculty Qualifications

Medical Assisting Faculty Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher and
  • Certified Medical Assistant credentialed through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Registered Medical Assistant through the American Medical Technologists and
  • Three years experience working as a medical assistant in an ambulatory care setting
Preferred
  • Classroom teaching experience
  • Management or supervisory experience
  • Primary Care or Internal Medicine experience
Related Instruction

The following MA courses include embedded related instruction in computation and communication.

  • MA 123 Medical Office Clinical Procedures Lecture
  • MA 124 Medical Office Clinical Procedures Lab
  • MA 117 Medical Office Administrative Procedures Lecture

In order to teach these courses, in addition to the basic requirements, instructors must have:

  • Math 60 or tested higher than Math 60 (Computation)
  • Writing 121 or equivalent (Communication)
