Learn hands-on skills and prepare for your Local Anesthesia Functions Certificate.
Get ready to elevate your dental assisting career with our exclusive 65-hour course, approved by the Oregon Board of Dentistry. This comprehensive training program reviews key concepts of pain management using local anesthetic agents, covering the pharmacology of anesthetic solutions, dosages, vasoconstrictors, drug interactions, neural physiology, anatomical features, medical history evaluation, contraindications, and the management of adverse side effects, including medical emergencies.
Conveniently offered during the weekends at PCCs Dental Sciences department. 35 hours of didactic coursework will be delivered through PCCs Desire2Learn, an online educational platform, along with 30 hours of hands-on training. With expert guidance, you’ll gain the confidence to document your achievements and complete the training, setting you up for success in your dental assisting career.

Prerequisites
Prior to beginning this course, participants must provide proof of:
- Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification from the Oregon Board of Dentistry
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification or its equivalent. Learn more about obtaining certification.
The investment
The time commitment for this course consists of 35 hours of online self paced course work, 15 hours of hands-on laboratory learning, and 15 hours of clinical practice.
