Frequently asked questions for applicants

What is my G#?

This is your student ID number PCC issued you upon admission approval in your PCC email.

What is your Governing JATC?

This the JATC you are applying to: MA 1040 LME/SE/LBME JATC, MA 1018 MPE JATC, MA 1146 MW/IMM JATC.

Do you need to take your PCC placement exam?

Yes! The only exception is if you have previous transcripts showing you have taken a math course of math 60 of higher in the last 3 years and have submitted those transcripts to the PCC advisers for Placement.

Where do you take their Math placement?

You do this by logging into your MyPCC student account and on your home page, left side scroll down and click ALEKs math skills then select the year cohort (Depending on when they applied to PCC). Do not select or enter a class.

Do I need to take reading and writing placements?

Yes/no. For the apprenticeship application and requirements math is the only placement required. On PCC side if you are going to take an elective or a class outside of the apprenticeship core classes they may need that placement but can be done at a later time.

Do I need my H.S. Transcripts?

They need to provide either their GED certificate with test scores, H.S. Transcripts showing graduation date and H.S. level math course passed with a “C” or better or an AAS degree or higher showing the degree was awarded and H.S. level math course passed  with a “C” or better. Simple taking classes in college does not meet the requirements. They must show one of those items were awarded.

Do I need copies of the licenses/Journey cards from my employer?

Yes. This cannot be a list. We need copies of all licenses or screen shots from the BCD showing they have an active license and Ratio is being met. So, we need all licenses/Journey worker documentation from a direct source and you must have enough submitted to support your current and new applicants. If you have an issue supplying this to the apprentice you can email them directly to our office.

Can I get credit for classes I took or work I did before I was an apprentice?

In some cases, you may be able to obtain prior credit for on the job hours or related training hours. Award of such hours is made on a case-by-case basis and at the discretion of the Committee. If you are interested in obtaining any such prior credit, you will find the necessary form as part of the application process.
