Amphibian egg mass monitoring
Monitoring northern reg-legged frogs and other amphibians in partnership with Clean Water Services and Metro
In order to monitor the population of Northern red-legged frogs (Rana aurora) as well as other resident amphibians within the RCESC, Clean Water Services, and Metro volunteers partner with the Rock Creek Biology and Environmental Studies department students and faculty to survey yearly for amphibian egg masses. The presence of these species provides indicators of overall ecological health and also helps to estimate numbers and population trends.
