GD114 Introductory Typography

Introduces the letterform as a design element. Focuses on using typography as the primary visual in graphic design exploration. Includes font classification, composition, vocabulary and production techniques. Introduces current Macintosh computer operating system, industry technical requirements, classroom procedures and overview of the technology used in the Graphic Design program. Prerequisites: GD 120, and (WR 115 and RD 115) or IRW 115 and MTH 20 or equivalent placement. Corequisite: GD 150. (See course content and outcomes.)
