Technology
This course can be viewed as a stepping stone into the world of musical language. The aim of this course is to open your eyes and ears to the music you listen to in your everyday life, transforming it and allowing you a deeper understanding of what makes music tick from a Western music perspective. Why does this song work? How do I learn to read this melody?
We will cover the basic components of music such as rhythm, melody, harmony, and structure. You will be given a foundation in music literacy skills. By the end of the course, you should be able to do basic note and rhythm reading. No prior music experience is required.
You will participate in weekly discussions, listening examples, assignments, quizzes, and exams. The course will have ten weekly modules with various quizzes, discussions, and assignments. Please consult the course syllabus and course calendar for further details.
This course does not require any Zoom meetings. It is entirely self-paced, asynchronous learning.
I look forward to working with you and introducing you to the building blocks of music!
