Details about this class
I'm honored that you're checking out Philosophy courses and hope you'll decide to take the next step and register! For more about me and how I approach teaching and learning with you, please visit my PCC web page. You can also check my FAQ document which includes general information about my courses and policies; I update it each term, so some of it will be specific to the current term but many details will stay the same.
- I use labor-based grading in my courses, which means that the grade you earn is up to you and the amount of work you decide to complete (there's a section on this in the sample syllabus below). While there are requirements and standards for your work, if you meet them then your work receives credit. There are due date requirements, but partial credit is available for assignments submitted past the due date.
- For more on labor-based grading (sometimes also called contract grading), check out this article.
I typically modify my syllabi from one term to the next, but here is the Winter '25 version that you can check out; it gives you an idea of what to expect even though it will likely undergo some minor changes before Spring 2025. Please reach out with any further questions!
