Analyzes current and past issues in US education through historical, sociological, political, and philosophical lenses with a focus on systemic inequities. Explores equity-focused practices regarding curricular approaches, pedagogy and classroom community. Includes a framework for developing a personal philosophy of education based on research and critical self-reflection. Examines current needs of today's schools. Prerequisites: (WR 115 and RD 115) or IRW 115. Audit available. (See course content and outcomes.)
