Details about this class

Textbook: Turley's Medical Language, Immerse Yourself, 5th Edition

  • There is a newer version, but we will be using the 5th edition.
  • You can use a digital or physical version of the book for this course. You will not need the MyLab or CD compontent, but are welcome to use it as a reference or in adjunct to our lessons. The remainder of the course content will be available in D2L.
  • Here is the link to rent books through PCC.

Technology

Computer/laptop and internet access. Course materials and quizzes are on D2L Brightspace. 

Proficiency with Google products, MyPCC, D2L Brightspace, and Zoom.

How to set up D2L notifications: 

  • Inside of your D2L Brightspace account you can add or edit the types of notifications you can receive from the system, including email and text message options. Click here for detailed instructions. 

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.

Online prerequisite: Start Guide for Online Learning

Before you take your first online class at PCC, you must complete the start guide for online learning. The start guide will help you decide if online classes are right for you. Once you complete the start guide, you will be eligible to register for online classes.

The Start Guide is not required for remote classes but strongly recommended.
