VT202 Surgical Nursing

Covers the preparation and monitoring of surgical patients, surgical assisting, aseptic techniques, and pre- and post-operative patient care. Includes surgical instrument identification, methods of instrument sterilization, and the veterinary technician's role in special surgical procedures. Prerequisite: Admission to Veterinary Technology program. (See course content and outcomes.)
