Every Sunday night, think about the previous week. How did you practice English outside of class (in addition to homework)? Choose one of the ideas in each category or think of your own ideas! Write a paragraph about what you did to practice reading, writing, speaking, listening, and technology. Look at the example paragraph to help you. Before you send your email, check it over with eagle eyes for grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and meaning. When it looks good, email it to davida.jordan@pcc.edu. Use your PCC email if you can. The subject of your email should be Independent Practice # __.

Example:
Dear Davida,
I had a great week. The weather was warm but not too hot. This week to practice reading, I went to the library with my kids and checked out a book about butterflies with beautiful pictures. To practice writing, I practiced typing for 15 minutes on Typing Club on Tuesday and Thursday. It was fun! To practice listening, I listened to music by the Beatles and read the lyrics. I also sang along! To practice speaking, I introduced myself to my next door neighbor and had a short conversation about his family, dog, and garden. I told him about my family and my country. I was very nervous to talk to him, but he was so nice. I’m going to share some food from my country with him the next time I see him. To practice technology, I set up my PCC email on my.pcc.edu. I had to choose a password. I wrote it down so I won’t forget it. I had a lot of emails to read!
See you tomorrow,
Maria
