As you already know, I am an instructor for Portland Community College Fire Protection Technology Program. I have been instructing the Fire Investigation curriculum since 2004. I also instruct FP291 Fire Codes and Related Ordinances in D2L Brightspace. What you may not know is that I live and work in Hawaii.

I am the Principle/Forensic Fire Investigator for Paradise Fire Consultants LLC. Paradise Fire Consultants LLC specializes in Origin and Cause fire/explosion investigations, fire code analysis, fire investigation training, and fire safety in the workplace.

I served over 39 years in the fire service. I have proudly worked for a number of fire service organizations. The last 14 years was with Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue as a Deputy Fire Marshal and Fire Investigator. I have also served in a variety of professional positions including Firefighter/Paramedic, Hazardous Materials Specialist, Fire Prevention Specialist, Medical Officer, Captain and Deputy Fire Chief/Fire Marshal.

I am a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) I am currently President for IAAI Hawaii Chapter 62. Past President of IAAI Oregon Chapter 31. I hold Certified Fire Investigator (CFI), Evidence Collection Technician (ECT) and Certified Instructor (CI) with the IAAI. I am a member of the National Association of Arson Investigators (NAFI) and hold Certified Fire Explosion Investigator (CFEI) and Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator (CVFI) with NAFI. I hold a Fire Inspector II certification with the International Code Council (ICC). I’m the past Training Coordinator of the Metro Fire Investigation Task Force. I am a licensed Hawaii Private Detective (Private Investigator) and Paradise Fire Consultants is licensed Private Detective Agency (Private Investigation Agency).

I have conducted over 1000 Fire/Explosion Investigations during my career.

I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Services Administration from Eastern Oregon University. An Associates degree from Edmonds Community College in Fire Command Administration and a Associates degree From Edmonds Community College in Fire Investigation.
