About me:

My career in public service began immediately after high school when I joined the U.S. Navy. During my ten-plus years of service, I held various assignments, including a role as a Military Police Officer. Following my military service, I transitioned into private security, where I gained experience in dignitary protection before being hired as a Corrections Deputy with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. Within a year, I joined the San Diego Police Department as a Police Officer, where I served for five years in multiple capacities, including Patrol Officer, Narcotics Officer, and a member of the uniformed bike patrol in Downtown San Diego.

In 2002, I relocated to the Portland, Oregon, area and joined the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, where I currently serve as a Chief Deputy overseeing the Professional Standards, Services, and Jail Divisions. Over the past two decades, I have worked across various divisions, including patrol, jail, professional standards, and investigations. Throughout my tenure, I have held multiple ranks, served as a Field Training Officer, worked in the Professional Standards Unit (Internal Affairs), and contributed as a report writing instructor for my agency.

My passion for education and mentorship led me to teach in 2012 when I had the opportunity to connect with the Chairman of the Criminal Justice Department at PCC. I am dual-certified as both a Police Officer and Corrections Deputy in the State of Oregon, and on June 9, 2022, I had the privilege of completing the FBI National Academy (Session 282).

I am honored to share my knowledge and experiences with you throughout this course and look forward to supporting your learning and professional growth.
