Hello! I’m Katherine, and I’ve been teaching crafting classes at PCC since 2023. Below, you’ll find a summary of the classes I’ll be teaching in the near future.
When I’m not crafting, I’m working as a science journalist. You can find my stories in Science, Scientific American, and The New York Times. I’m a scientist by training — I have a Ph.D. in astronomy. I used to study far-away galaxies and often traveled to Hawaii to use big telescopes.
Advanced Bead Embroidery — Summer 2024 (July 1)
Calling all seasoned beaders! Bezel a cabochon in glass seed beads using peyote stitch to create a stunning pendant. Prior experience working with seed beads strongly encouraged. All supplies are included.

Wondrous Wire Earrings — Summer 2024 (June 25, June 27)
Design your own earrings. Bend wire into fun shapes and incorporate glass and stone beads. Create between two and four pairs of earrings for pierced ears. All supplies are included.

It’s a throwback to summer camp! Learn how to make daisy chain necklaces and lanyards. Pick out your favorite colors of beads and lacing — all supplies are included.
