Apple Butter Supply List

To participate in the Beginner Applesauce class you’ll need to bring the following:

  1. Clean Mason Jars – I recommend playing it safe and bringing a dozen Jam (8oz) jars OR a dozen 4oz jars if you’d like to make mini jars for gifts
  2. Rings and Lids – you’ll need to bring one ring and one lid per jar (if you buy brand new jars these will be included).  Please make sure if you are buying rings and lids separately that you pay attention to wide vs regular mouth jars so you get the right size. (WinCo, Bi-Mart and Wal-Mart have the best prices on these)
  3. Apples – 4lbs (please weigh your apples, most people are not great at estimating)
    • The best apples for apple butter are softer apples!  I’d recommend Fuji, Braeburn, Cortland, Golden Delicious, Idared, Gravenstein, or McIntosh, or any combination of these.
  4. A box to take your jars home in.  If you buy a new flat of jars the box they come in is great!
