YESS Steering and Action Group
Co-Chairs of the YESS Steering and Action Group
Team Description and Charge
The YESS Steering and Action Group formed as a subgroup of the District Leaders of Diversity Council in 2020 and was charged with defining, developing, and supporting equity activities and measures for the PCC YESS (Achieving the Dream) initiative.
Progress and Milestones
During Summer 2021 the YESS Steering and Action Group worked on equity tool mapping to create an inventory of equity tools used at the college and the level of adoption for each of them.
Next Steps
During the 2021-22 academic year, a newly identified team of Academic and Student Affairs leaders will partner with the Office for Equity and Inclusion to guide integrated equity and a racial and social justice framework within all systems, policy, and practice continuous improvement efforts.

This work is guided by the following priority projects in support of the college’s Strategic Plan:
- Establish a systematic review and continuous improvement process that analyzes administrative procedures, operations, and practice through a racial equity and social justice framework. This process will be implemented across the college.
- Create an aligned and cohesive focus on diversity and inclusion across the college; expanding our understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) through a college-wide equity plan. Each department will provide unit-level equity plans, and OEI will develop an assessment process for the college.
- The Belonging, Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (B-JEDI) Leadership Council will create a professional development framework that will build individual and departmental capacity to advance the college’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and foster a more inclusive and culturally affirming college climate.
