From One Side of the Table to the Other: Oscar’s Full Circle Journey

At our recent Trades Career Fair, we had the privilege of seeing Oscar, an alumnus of the PCC Career Pathways & STEP Pre-Apprenticeship Program, return—not as a student—but as an employer on the other side of the table, helping guide the next generation of trades professionals.
Oscar’s story is one of perseverance, transformation, and giving back:
“I believe it’s important to help the next person. I’m the first journeyman in my family, and the pre-apprenticeship program opened my mind, prepared me more than I ever thought possible, and showed me all the options in the trades.”
Through the program’s incredible instructors, mock interviews, and thoughtful coaching, Oscar achieved his dream of becoming an inside wireman. Now, he’s come full circle, connecting with students who are standing where he once stood.
“This program taught me to be organized, have the right attitude, and make the best of every opportunity. It’s a great program if you’re ready to make a change. If you know, you can do it!”
