CLASS Internship
CLASS (Community-based Learning And Service Sessions) believes education is an avenue to an engaged, supportive community. We develop programs for the community to serve students, and for students to serve the community. We’re seeking interns with an interest in education, supporting youth, teaching and creating curriculum. Join our mission to hold CLASS everywhere! As a CLASS intern you will:
- Collect information for courses
- Link curriculum to Common Core and Next Generation standards
- Create pre-trip classroom experiences
- Research workforce and professional fields
- Research and document community settings
- Meet professionals who share the mission
Interns commit 10 hours or more and work on a flexible schedule. This volunteer position is a great opportunity to get involved in a growing organization.

About the Organization
CLASS is a non-profit organization based in Portland, OR exclusively for charitable, religious, and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We are committed to the following objectives:
- Immersion, Inquiry, Action: These principles ensure that participant learning is constructive, driven by inquiry and by motivation to serve others and in connection to local people and places.
- Meaningful Service: We aim to increase opportunities to service the community and increase investment in projects by providing information and guided reflection.
- Support for Educators and Parents: CLASS creates community-based curriculum and connects educators and parents with partners in the private and public sectors.
- Political Action: CLASS aims to support and amplify voices that are often less heard in the civic arena. We provide opportunities for more politically empowered groups to support less empowered in making contributions.
- Supportive Environment: Staff and volunteers – prepared through training, interview and prior experience– work with small groups of students. Participants are encouraged to be curious, exploratory and experimental. Empowered learners feel connected to the group and the community.
I am an international grad student. I go to PSU for masters in Conflict Resolution, and I am interested in internship or volunteering opportunities that can considered as Practicum hours. My passion is always been intercultural conflict and women rights. I can commit the entire summer if that needed.
