OHSU ThinkFirst Oregon: Volunteers needed for Injury Prevention education at community events

Posted by

OHSU ThinkFirst Oregon needs volunteers to help out at community events throughout Oregon. We will be participating at many community events throughout the summer (July and August) and we need volunteers to help by talking with people (kids and adults) about brain anatomy (using brain and spinal cord models) at our events. Volunteers will be running activities that help people understand how doing a simple task can be more difficult with a brain injury as well as help us fit bike helmets (measuring heads and helping to fit bike helmets we sell for $5).

Don’t know what to do when you arrive for your volunteer shift? Don’t worry, we will give you a brief tutorial of each station (different activities) so that you will know what to do and say (about brain and spinal cord anatomy and injury).

About the Organization

OHSU ThinkFirst Oregon is an award-winning nonprofit Injury Prevention program located at Oregon Health & Science University. We are dedicated to educating the community on preventing brain and spinal cord injuries. ThinkFirst teaches young people ways to avoid behaviors and situations that put them at risk. Our message is that you can enjoy a fun, exciting life and be safe if you “think first” and use your mind to protect your body.
