1. Portland Art Museum: The museum needs new docents!

The Portland Art Museum is looking for fun and engaging people-people to join our volunteer docent corps. This year’s docent training class will focus on the creation of participatory experiences in the Museum’s galleries, with an emphasis on K-12 school tours. Training will include current docents and staff from across the Museum in an effort to explore the forms that engagement can take, as well as the Museum as a resource for teachers and students.

Applications are due on Friday, July 17, 2015.

2. Habitat for Humanity ReStore: Summer Sprint!

We need YOU! The summer is our busiest time and we are buried in donations. You can help by coming in for four hours a week and helping sort and price donated merchandise, organize store displays, and assist with receiving donations or running the cash register. There are a lot of opportunities and we love nurturing any talents that you bring to us. Our shifts are from 9-1 and 1-5 Monday-Saturday. 3. Neighborhood House-Cesar Chavez K-8: Food Pantry and Summer School Volunteer Positions

Summer Program Volunteers needed July 13-August 7th from 8:45-1pm

Distribution Volunteer at School’s Food Pantry needed Wednesdays 1pm-3pm

4. Cherry Park SUN: Have fun helping kids this Summer

Cherry Park SUN’s summer program begins July 13th and we need your help. We are looking for assistant activity leaders, tutors, and mentors. Each position requires a background check and interest in working with children. Assistant activity leaders help implement activities such as art, cooking, and drama. Tutors will help students with fun and engaging math activities. Mentors would offer individualized support to children creating positive relationships and guidance.

Cherry Park SUN’s summer programming begins on July 13 and ends August 7. The program operates 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. If you are interested in helping out this summer please contact the volunteer coordinator today.

5. Metropolitan Family Service: We are seeking volunteers for the Earl Boyles Food Pantry/Free Food Fridays

The Schools Uniting Neighborhoods program at Earl Boyles Elementary School is seeking monthly volunteers for our Free Food Fridays Food Pantry (Fridays 12-3pm)! Come play an active role in providing food security for our families at a school that truly prioritizes community. We are currently seeking volunteers who can, in a welcoming, caring and efficient way, guide families through. Orientation is included so no previous experience necessary; simply come with an open heart.

6. Metropolitan Family Service: Childcare for Earl Boyles Parent Group Retreat

Parents United is having a day-long on-site retreat on Wednesday, July 15th from 9am until 3:30pm. We want them to be able to focus on their leadership and we are therefore in need of childcare services during the event. Please contact us if you are interested, available, and have childcare experience. The event will take place in the infant/toddler space at Earl Boyles Elementary School at 10822 SE Bush St Portland, OR 97266.

7. Connect2Complete K12 AmeriCorps NOW RECRUITING Members for 2015-16

Support, Encourage & Inspire Students To Succeed! Students who miss class regularly are more likely to become disconnected from school and eventually dropout. As a Connect2Complete AmeriCorps member, you can make a difference in the lives of K‐12 students who are most at‐risk of dropping out by creating relationships with them and providing ongoing support and encouragement. 8. OHSU ThinkFirst Oregon: Volunteers needed for Injury Prevention education at community events

OHSU ThinkFirst Oregon needs volunteers to help out at community events throughout Oregon. We will be participating at many community events throughout the summer (July and August) and we need volunteers to help by talking with people (kids and adults) about brain anatomy (using brain and spinal cord models) at our events. Volunteers will be running activities that help people understand how doing a simple task can be more difficult with a brain injury as well as help us fit bike helmets (measuring heads and helping to fit bike helmets we sell for $5).

9. Create Plenty: Volunteers Needed for Zero Waste Cafe

Zero Waste Cafe Volunteer – The Cafe program is intended to provide an opportunity for youth to learn entrepreneurial and vocational skills through a sustainability lens, as well as serve as a community building workspace for NE Portland residents. It is a vibrant partnership between Leaven, Trash for Peace, and Create Plenty–all local 501c3 non-profit organizations.

The cafe will initially be held one time per week on Thursdays, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. to coincide with the SWAP (Swap, Work And Play) hours in the Leaven Community Commons. From 8 a.m.-9 a.m., bilingual yoga will be held in the sanctuary as well.

10. Operation Nightwatch Portland: Volunteer Serving those Experiencing Homelessness in SE Portland!

Volunteers needed at either our Mobile Hospitality Center or our Southeast Hospitality Center! Mobile Hospitality Center is open on Fridays from 7-9 pm, at the Flavel Max Stop (green line). Our Southeast Hospitality Center is located at 8800 SE 80th Ave (in the Clackamas Service Center) and is open every Saturday from 5:30 – 9:30 pm.

11. Write Around Portland: Fall Internship Available

We have project-based internships that are assigned depending upon the interests and experiences of the intern. We want to ensure internships are positive and successful for each individual and our organization. Internships usually last for at least three months and are unpaid. Typically, we assign interns to a specific project; interns also assist with other areas of our programming. Interns are supervised by and work closely with our program coordinators.
